I always wanted to save the planet! It was that passion that led me at the age of 15 to present my thesis, “artificial regeneration of ozone in the stratosphere” to his excellency, the then president of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam at the 94th National Science Congress. At 19 I won the ‘Go Green’ award at BAJA SAE India for using recyclable materials to fabricate an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). At 21, I created a biofuel using Cashew Nut Shell Liquid to power diesel engines, at 25, I was planting trees for the TATA Green Thumb initiative and at 27, I was part of a team representing The University of Texas at Dallas for the Patagonia Case Competition in collaboration with UC Berkeley, to help solve the problem of single-use plastic in the food and the apparel industry.
The UT Dallas MBA program helped me gain what I was seeking (i.e.) to develop a more holistic understanding of business management, which gave me the necessary business know-how and leadership acumen to ably pursue my goal. An opportunity to work with academicians, industry veterans and professionals eventually led me to devise a plan that added an element of sustainability to the fastest growing industry, Telecommunications, and create a larger global impact superseding all my individual contributions.
The MBA Program here at UT Dallas is a gateway to work with and contribute to, the teams that are building the future. I did not look forward not to a comfortable corporate chair, but to rolling up my sleeves and working alongside colleagues, to bring to reality the ideas that will define the next 50 years, just as the moon landing did in 1969.
